After swimming for a while and looking for solutions, we saw a tour boat in the distance and started swimming towards it. Finally, our boat found us and picked us up. Although it was a stressful experience, I knew it wouldn't go any further, but it is a reminder of the risks that can be involved in doing this type of activity.
For me, summer days in Cancun are the most fascinating time of the year. The sun shines brightly, the sky is clear, and the sea is at its calmest and most splendorous. My favorite place to enjoy all of this is Punta Sur , on Isla Mujeres. For years, I had dreamed of capturing photos in this beautiful place, long before I had a drone.
That's when I met Aranza and Alaya, two talented young women who represent Mexico in jetsurfing, a sport that uses a motorized board. I met them thanks to Aletazul and we immediately became a great match. The idea of trying jetsurfing and taking incredible photos materialized.
One day, we organized a boat trip to Isla Mujeres, where Aranza and Alaya taught me how to surf. We spent the whole day at sea, enjoying the sun, the water and good company, while I captured unique moments with my camera.
Photography has always been my passion , even before I had a drone. During this adventure, I didn't have a mood board or a detailed plan, I simply had the idea of capturing spectacular shots with the drone. From the boat, I launched the drone and started filming, following Aranza and Alaya as they made their way around. The images I captured turned out to be fantastic, and it was very satisfying to see that the footage obtained was of high quality.
As with every experience, we faced some challenges. Jetsurf boards are extremely sensitive and cannot come into contact with water. Being my first time, I was very excited and, without realizing it, I went too far. At one point, I fell and the board turned off. Aranza came to help me, but his board also turned off when it tipped over.
We were far from the shore and the boat, which turned out to be a dangerous situation due to the boat traffic in the area.
For all water activities, I always bring my Aletazul products. The Bamboo Pro Long are essential to protect me from the sun, and my DryBag waterproof backpack is perfect for carrying my camera without worrying about it getting wet. Caps are also essential to protect me from the sun throughout the day.
Jetsurfing is a sport that, although it may seem expensive, is worth trying. It is easy to learn compared to other water sports and is a lot of fun. I recommend taking lessons with someone experienced to ensure a better experience and minimize risks.
The jetsurfing experience in Isla Mujeres was unforgettable. From the excitement of learning a new sport to capturing amazing images, every moment was special. Despite the challenges, the adventure and beauty of the place made it all worth it. If you are looking for an exciting new activity for your summer days, jetsurfing is a great option.
